2024 Spring Tee-Ball

Often a family’s first introduction to Little League®, providing a Tee Ball experience that is grounded in fun, fitness, and fundamentals is key to growing a child’s love for the game.
4 and 5 Year old's (See LL Age chart) are automatically assigned to the Tee Ball division.
6 year old's can move up to the Coach Pitch division, only after having played at least one year of tee ball previously.
While LL allows new 7 year old's to play tee ball, it is Salem LL's decision to, unless an exception is granted, to have all 7 year old's in the Farm - Coach Pitch division.

2024 Spring Softball

Update 3/19/2024: While our programs for ages 9-15 are currently on wait list, we strongly recommend you actually register on to the wait list. It is our GOAL to have every child play who wants to, but we won't know they want to until they are on the list. If on the list, we will do everything possible to find them a spot. Registration for younger ages remains open. Junior/Senior (Ages 13-15) and 12 year old majors, has a lesser chance of an opening than our ages 9-11 divisions.

All 7 year old's will be automatically assigned to the Coach Pitch division, In the Coach pitch division, the season continuously touts the importance of team-building and chemistry, while focusing on fundamentals. The Coach pitch division of Little League is a fun activity that has as its prime objective
nurturing and growing well-rounded and productive people with softball fundamentals, not developing elite ballplayers.

All 8-11 year old's will be evaluated for placement into the Minors or Major Division. Both are umpired, competitive divisions, with different level of skills.
For the most part:
  • 8 year old's: highly skilled 8's will be placed in the minors based on the numbers needed. All other's will remain in Farm.
  • 9 year old's: none will be in Farm. They will be placed in the minors or the majors based on skill.
  • 10 year old's: highly skilled 10's may be drafted into the majors by a major league manager. Should a 10 year old not be drafted, they will be placed in the minors.
  • 11 year old's: 95% of 11 year old's will be drafted into the majors by a major league manager. Only if an 11 year old has low skill levels where safety is an issue will they be placed in the minors. 11 year old's who sign up too late to be drafted will be placed in the minors and will not be allowed to pitch for the season.

12 year old's- 12 year old's will be evaluated and be placed either in the Majors or Junior/Senior Softball. No 12 year old's will be placed in the minors.

13-15 year olds - will be placed in Junior/Senior Softball.

2024 Spring Baseball

As of 3/19/2024: While some of our programs are currently on wait list, we strongly recommend you actually register on to the wait list. It is our GOAL to have every child play who wants to, but we won't know they want to until they are on the list. If on the list, we will do everything possible to find them a spot. Registration for younger ages remains open. More details: 12 year old's- will be on a wait list. 12 year old's (DOB 9/1/11-8/31/12) must be in majors, and teams are selected. If someone withdraws, gets injured (on or off the field), etc. we will utilize the wait list to replace that player. Eleven year olds (DOB 9/1/12-8/31/13): If played in majors last year, they will be start and remain on the wait list until a spot opens. IF they did not play in the majors last year, they will be taken off and put in minors, assuming we have room). 9s and 10s, have 2 spots left in the minors and can sign up for minors. 7s and 8s can sign up for Farm Baseball., plenty of room. 6s with at least one year of tee-ball in the past can choose tee-ball or Farm. All 4s and 5s are tee-ball.
Tee Ball and Farm baseball have plenty of room.

  • 12 year old's- all 12 year old's will be drafted if signed up before teams are selected. 12 year old's who are not signed up in time to be drafted (mid-March) will not be able to participate for the season unless a player is out for the season, due to resignation, illness or injury.
