We need parents to step up and volunteer. You don't need to know the game- we can use people to do other tasks such as wiping down equipment with Lysol, ensure players remain socially distant on the bench, etc. Please fill out a volunteer application as you register.
The Little League Baseball Division (also known as the Major Division) is for boys and girls ages 9 -12. A local league may choose to limit its Major Division to 10-, 11- and 12-year-olds, or 11-12-year-olds.
**Note- Salem Little League limits Major Baseball to ages 10-12- under no condition will a 9 year old be allowed to play on a major league team.**
A child who is considered "baseball 13" (born on or before August 31, 2007) who wish to continue playing baseball, should sign up with our friends at Salem Beverly Babe Ruth baseball. Their website is https://www.leaguelineup.com/welcome.asp?url=beverlysalembaseball, or click here:

- All 12- year-olds are in Major Baseball
- All 11- year-olds are in Major Baseball unless exempted for MEDICAL reasons by the Board of Directors. A medical exemption is rare, and the player/guardian must present a written statement from a licensed medical doctor, who indicates the physical activities of baseball that would be detrimental to the health of said player.
- Higher skilled 10-year-olds can be drafted to major baseball by major baseball coaches only after all 11- year-olds and 12-year-olds have been rostered, to fill any open roster spots, as the coaches determine their needs fit. To determine their selections, coaches will use their notes based on tryouts/player evaluations (March - date TBD) and feedback from your child's previous coaches. Needless to say, it is important your child attends tryouts.
The diamond used is a 60-foot diamond and the pitching distance is 46 feet.
