Dear Salem Little League Families –

By now, you’ve heard of the tragic passing of Kory Ouellette this past weekend. We’d like to take a moment to express our deepest condolences to Kory’s family and friends. It’s difficult to find solace when such a tragedy occurs but we hope that with the support of the Salem community, peace will come in time to those who grieve.

Kory was a member of the 2015 12-year-old District Champion team – the only baseball district championship that Salem Little League has ever won – but the connections run so much deeper. The Ouellette and O’Leary families have been synonymous with youth sports in Salem for more than half a century and their contributions are immeasurable. We implore our current Salem Little League families to keep these people in their thoughts during this very difficult time. Should you choose to contribute financially, there is a Go Fund Me effort taking place to help the family.

Lastly, please keep an eye on your young ones. Many are hurt and bewildered and others may have questions about the seeming fragility of life. Please be present to answer those questions and to comfort those who need comforting. Remember that life is a precious gift and that deep, personal relationships are something we all need. Let’s all remember to empathize with those who have had both of these things so unfortunately interrupted.
