News Detail

Jan, 2021

Registration opens 1/16/2021 at noon time!

Hello Salem Little League parents!

The board has met several times over the past few months and we are happy to announce we plan on having a full season, following Coronavirus guidelines, for all divisions of play in Tee Ball, Baseball and Softball.

While we did cancel some of our divisions in 2020 due to the unknowns surrounding the pandemic, we are happy to say that in the delayed spring seasons we did have, and fall ball, we had over 80 games, over 200 practices, and had no cases tied to our program. We know much more about this virus now, and feel confident in our ability to provide your child with a safe, outdoor activity during these tough times, as long as we have enough volunteers to help.  By nature, softball, baseball and tee-ball are socially distant sports when compared with higher contact sports.  While we can never ELIMINATE coronavirus risk, the steps we follow from Little League International, the state, and the city of Salem will mitigate the risk as much as possible.

Registration will open for the 2021 season at noon time Saturday, 1/16/2021.

A few pieces of information:

  • Due to the pandemic, registration will solely be on-line this year.
  • Those who paid last year and were not refunded, should see a credit on their account.
  • If you have always registered in person, you do have an online account.  Your email address should be your user ID.  You can reset your own password from there.  There is also a tutorial on how to use the online registration system, if necessary, which can be viewed here.
  • Payment can be made via Visa or Mastercard, either credit or debit card.
  • You can pay in full, or utilize a payment plan offered at check out.
  • Early Bird Discounts ($5 off tee-ball, $20 off baseball or softball) will be applied at check out through 2/16.  To register without a late fee, register by 3/13.  Late fees are waived for new families to our program for their first year.
  • For those who may need financial assistance, The T-Mobile Little League Call Up Grant is committed to helping families in need by covering registration fees associated with Local Little League programs so that every kid has the chance to play.  To learn how to apply for the grant, see the attached information from T-Mobile.
  • For those who have provided their child's proof of Salem residency/school attendance and birth certificate in the past, you do not have to do that again.  If you uploaded different documents (such as a picture of your child), you will need to upload those documents.  They can be in various forms (jpeg, etc.) but cannot be in PDF form.  A picture from your phone is fine, as long as it is legible.
  • If there are any questions, you can email Ed Colbert at [email protected].  He will respond when able- but is ONE person.  As questions come in and are answered, he will post a FAQ tab under the registration menu.  You can also call Stack Sports at (866-258-3303 for assistance.

Finally- four things are critical to make sure 2021, with all the curveballs we may face, is a success.

  1. We need your help.  We need 4+ volunteers from each team to make this work.  You don't need to know the sport- we will help with that aspect.  But we also need volunteers to help wipe down equipment with Lysol wipes, to ensure kids are remaining socially distant and wearing masks, etc.  If we don't have enough volunteers, and our ability to run this safely is diminished, we will be forced to cancel.  To help, fill out a volunteer application during the registration process, and reach out to our volunteer coordinator, Rayleen McGrath, at [email protected].
  2. While spectating at games and practices, you must guarantee that you will follow all rules set forth by the league, or city and state leadership regarding social distancing, and especially of masks wearing.  If we fail in this area, we can be shut down by the city and the season ends.
  3. We BEG you to sign up now and not wait- there are payment plans set up so that you can register now and pay later.  Registering in mid-March for a season that starts in April puts tremendous strain on our ability to run a season.
  4. Once the season begins- if you or your child are ill, or have symptoms of illness, please refrain from coming to the park until cleared by the local BOH.

Finally- please share our program with your friends and with your children's friends.  We know kids are bored, and we want to see them all get outside this spring and have some fun- they deserve it.  We all do....

We hope to see you all soon....Stay Safe!
